ABOUT THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
The Southern Appalachian International Film Festival, with support from regional institutions, local agencies, the Northeast Tennessee Art Commisssion, East Tennessee State University, the JCDA and business sponsors, presents films from the Festival competitions, retrospective screenings, related educational seminars and promotional events during the 2nd annual Southern Appalachian International Film Festival also known as SOAPIFF. The purpose of SOAPIFF is to publicly recognize and promote the work of independent movie makers and encourage film/video production and film culture in Southern Appalachia. SOAPIFF revives an annual film festival in the greater Tri-Cities, Tennessee, the birthplace of the oldest continuous film festival in the American South (the Sinking Creek Film Festival). The festival will entertain, educate and also present other art forms that play collaborative roles in film production and marketing.
